About Me

I’m Nicolas, a 19-year-old aspiring author based in Novi Sad, Serbia. I see my projects not just as pieces of writing, but experiences I can give to my readers, and I create with the philosophy that authenticity in expression is what gives poetry, prose and all other forms of art the power to change minds for the better and do good in the world.

I began writing in my early teens, scribbling random thoughts and nonsensical letters to non-existent recipients before bedtime. I would sit under my window, flooded in moonlight, and write whatever I felt like writing. I wrote without intending to show any of it to anyone else, and it was that mindset that set my thoughts free and allowed me to truly discover what I believed, felt and dreamed about.

I began writing poetry a while later, not long after relocating to Europe from the States, where I grew up. For the first time, I decided to share my work with someone other than myself, and I cautiously presented it to a close friend. To my surprise, he was beyond encouraging, and we soon found ourselves exchanging more works and discussing poetry like we’d been mastering the craft for a lifetime.

I haven’t stopped writing since.

I’m not as prolific of a writer as I’d like to be. I find writing exhausting, difficult and some days on the brink of impossible. But on the rare occassion I do have inspiration, the feeling is irreplaceable. It’s a seamless connection of thought, feeling and word, all brought to life with limitless imagination.

In spring of 2025, I volunteered at my local public library in Čačak, Serbia. What was meant to be an experience completely unrelated to what had now become my hobby turned into a defining chapter in my life both as a person and an aspiring author.

Thanks to both the thoughtfulness and generosity of my mentors and staff at the library, I was given the opportunity to present my poetry to a larger audience several times. I met people who understood literature, from professors to librarians, and for the first time since I’d began to write, I found my work not only listened to, but understood and appreciated by the outside world.

It’s one of my favorite facts about art: that it can connect like nothing else can. It’s a whole new language we all speak by default—by simply existing. My volunteering experience at the Čačak City Library only reinforced my conviction that by simply following and striving to remain as authentic as possible in whatever kind of artistic expression we choose, we can communicate in this universal language and share the gifts of raw experience and observation through our creativity.

I’ve since relocated to Novi Sad, a city in Serbia located right on the banks of the Danube. It’s a gorgeous town, with a long history of culture and plenty of charming architecture. I feel privileged at the prospect of being able to further pursue my passion in such an inspiring place.
