I Wrote This Beneath Stars

A bottle of ink spilled onto a sheet of paper
My tears fell too
It dried into a poem.

Did you know that even stars die?
I whisper to them, you are eternal!
I still do
Because all eternity means to me
is existence beyond when I cease to exist.

If only I could die before you!
So that you could become eternal
Like the stars.

I wrote this beneath stars.

About This Poem

I did indeed physically write this poem beneath a starry sky, but the true significance of this piece lies in the realization that eternity, as illogical as it sounds, is very much a subjective concept. Eternity is only as large as you can imagine it to be.
