Walk

…through the wind.
Cracked
and broken walls will slide past and
the brilliance of the sun will burn
the tears that spill down your face.
Breathe
and brush your cheek against these crumbling walls;
turn your eyes
to the ground and watch
this body and these limbs
living and moving and
reappearing again.
Walk
and live, and place one foot
after another.

…through darkness and light.
You will feel
your heart beating in your chest, and
life pulsing through your veins. One day
the ground will embrace you, and your eyes will sink
into dust, away from the wind and the
brilliance of the sun.
Walk
and live, and place on foot
after another, through the wind.

Walk
